Book Haul: September Reads

With only a week left of the month, I thought it best to get online and buy some of those books I’d been talking about recently. Especially as there seems to be so many coming out in September. And what better way to sneak in not one book haul, but two, by buying the first lot in August—looks innocently at partner when grilled under oath to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth—and a second lot in September. Thereby convincing said partner, eh, I hope, that the first lot was my August selection, when, in fact, I had already had my August buys.

The first haul will be:

  • CHAOS VECTOR (SF) — by Megan E. O’Keefe
  • THE LAST SMILE IN SUNDER CITY (F) — by Luke Arnold
  • RACE THE SANDS (F) — by Sarah Beth Durst
  • IN SHADOWS WE FALL (F) — by Devin Madson

Of course I had to buy Chaos Vector, book 2 in the Protectorate series, seeing how I just finished reading Velocity Weapon and damn if I’m hanging around waiting … I need to know what’s going on.

Then Dead Man in a Ditch by Luke Arnold came across my radar and I was like, wow, I really like the sound of this one, only to discover that it was book 2 in a series. So, naturally, I have to read The Last Smile in Sunder City first. Right?

It was the same with Ride the Sands, another fantasy read I came across while doing research for another book and, liking the sound of people racing monsters across the desert sounded, just had to get a copy.

Having read and absolutely loved We Ride the Storm by Devin Madson, I went researching her other works and found Orbit is reissuing them all. So was really please to see I could get a hold of her award winning novella, In Shadow we Fall, the book that started it all. And yes, I have her initial trilogy in my wish list, along with We Lie With Death book 2 in the Reborn Empire saga.

This is only round one, you’ll have to wait and see what is coming up in round two of my book buying spree, later in September.

Oh, I intend too, Jo. So, so very happy to be back into the reading groove, having found my mojo again.
