Well, to answer that question, maybe we need to take a tour of the Galaxy courtesy of NASA. Who have kindly put a whole website together to take us out into the far reaches of space, to destinations we can only dream of, or read about in a book. And try to extrapolate whether or not there is, in fact, life out there!
Welcome to the Exoplanet Travel Bureau … please fasten your seatbelt, check your spacesuit, and sit back and enjoy the ride!
Check out STRANGE NEW WORLDS and see for yourself, could life exist on Kepler- 16b (discovered Dec 2011) or how about AU Microscopii b (discovered 2020) indeed, there are some mysterious looking exoplanets out there, but do any of them harbour life? Probably not.
Maybe you would like to find a planet for yourself, play amateur astronomer, then you should check out 5 Ways To Find A Planet, and see if you’ve got what it takes to be the next Copernicus or Hubble.
Or, how about a Universe of Monsters … monster planets that is. Where it rains glass or a planet of constant electrical storms. Or the dusty dirt ball that is Proxima Centauri b, not a place anyone that a mummy might want to hang out on.
You could, of course, if you think your spacesuit will last long enough, go on a journey from the centre of the Milky Way Galaxy far out, and back again, and count just how many stars there are out there just in our little humble corner of the universe.
Whatever your choice, stay safe out there, the universe is more deadly than Australia, and any life we do encounter out there is sure to be just as weird looking!
